Terms and Conditions for Transition Buddy

This Privacy Policy describes how AFFINITY INTELLECT, LLC ("Affinity Intellect," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Transition Buddy mobile application (the "App"). By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. About the App

Transition Buddy is a family-focused application that helps parents and caregivers build daily routines, assign tasks, and reward children for completing them. The App is designed to be set up and managed by a parent or legal guardian, who in turn creates child profiles and may link additional family devices.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide as a parent:

- Account information: email address, password (stored as a one-way hash by our authentication provider), and the display name you supply.

- Child profile information you create about your child: first name, last name, optional gender, and an optional profile color.

- App content you create: tasks, routines, rewards, encouragement messages, and household co-parent invitations.

- Optional feedback: if you choose to submit beta feedback from within the App, we collect the message text, severity, and (optionally) your email and the route in the App you were on.

2.2 Information generated by app use:

- Child activity within the household: task completions, points earned and spent, streaks, rewards redeemed, help requests, and encouragements sent or received.

- Parent activity: rewards configured, routines created, tasks scheduled, settings preferences.

2.3 Technical and device data:

- Anonymous and authenticated user identifiers assigned by Firebase Authentication.

- Push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token), used only to deliver notifications you have configured.

- Device-link identifiers: when a child device joins a household via a 6-digit code, we record a non-personal device-link record so the App can route data correctly between devices.

- App-integrity tokens issued by Google Play Integrity, used solely to verify requests originate from an authentic copy of the App.

2.4 Analytics and diagnostics:

- Firebase Analytics events describing aggregated, non-personal usage (for example: that a sign-up occurred, a task was completed, or a reward was redeemed). These events do not include child profile names or message contents.

- Optional telemetry traces (OpenTelemetry) describing performance and errors, transmitted only when a collector endpoint is configured.

2.5 What we do NOT collect:

- We do not collect geolocation data.

- We do not access your contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, or photos.

- We do not display third-party advertising and do not use advertising identifiers.

- We do not sell personal information to third parties.

3. How We Use Information

- To provide, operate, and improve the App's core features (routines, tasks, rewards, encouragements, family device linking).

- To authenticate parents and link child devices to their household.

- To send the push notifications you have configured (for example, task reminders, encouragements from a parent).

- To detect, prevent, and address bugs, abuse, or security incidents.

- To respond to your support requests or feedback.

- To comply with applicable laws and lawful requests by public authorities.

4. How We Share Information

4.1 Within your household: Information you create about your children and household is visible to other parent accounts you have explicitly invited as co-parents, and to any child devices you have linked using a device code. You control these links from within the App and may unlink at any time.

4.2 Service providers (sub-processors): We rely on Google's Firebase platform to store data, authenticate users, deliver push notifications, and verify app integrity. Specifically:

- Firebase Authentication — stores parent credentials and manages anonymous child sessions.

- Cloud Firestore — stores household, task, and child profile data.

- Cloud Functions for Firebase — runs server-side logic (for example, generating and redeeming family-device codes).

- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications.

- Firebase Analytics — provides aggregated usage analytics.

- Firebase App Check (Play Integrity) — verifies that requests come from a genuine installation of the App.

Google's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy and security commitments.

4.3 Legal disclosures: We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Affinity Intellect, our users, or the public.

4.4 Business transfers: If Affinity Intellect is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before any transfer that materially changes how your information is handled.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is designed to be set up and operated by a parent or legal guardian for use within their household. We rely on the parent to provide consent for the limited information they choose to enter about their child (a first name, optional last name, optional gender, optional profile color) and for the in-app activity their child generates while using a linked device.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 outside the parent-mediated workflow described above. Children using a linked device do so under an anonymous identifier; they do not create accounts, do not provide an email address, and cannot share information outside the household they were linked into.

If you are a parent and believe we have collected information from your child that you did not authorize, please contact us at privacy@affinityintellect.com and we will delete it promptly.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data — including child profiles, tasks, rewards, and any linked device records — by emailing privacy@affinityintellect.com from the email associated with your parent account. We will process verified deletion requests within 30 days.

Short-lived items (such as 6-digit family-device codes and co-parent invitation codes) automatically expire and are deleted by our server-side cleanup processes; no action by you is required.

7. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards provided by Google Firebase, including encrypted transport (TLS), encrypted storage at rest, and security rules that restrict each household's data to its own authenticated members. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you suspect your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

- Access the personal information we hold about you.

- Correct or update inaccurate information.

- Delete your information (subject to legal exceptions).

- Withdraw consent for processing where consent is the legal basis.

- Lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@affinityintellect.com. We will verify your identity before fulfilling requests.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding twelve months. You have the right to know what we collect, to request deletion, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

9. International Users

The App is operated from the United States, and any information you provide is processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing. If you are located outside the United States, please be aware that U.S. data-protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the App or by email before the changes take effect. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates when this version became active.
